The Taste of Dorset is held the first Sunday every
August. The local businesses take their wares to the street and provide
you with a culinary feast for the entire family. The restaurants sell
small samples of their delicious food items, the other shops sell their
individual goods and the
community provides live music and entertainment for all to enjoy. The
festivities begin at 11:30 am and
continue until 3:00
pm.
Located in Dorset is a Bed & Breakfast. Other lodging is available in the area check with the Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce for further information. Join the other two to three thousand hungry revelers and enjoy a gastronomical event.
One of the most exciting events held during the Taste of
Dorset is our mayoral race with the winner drawn around 2:00 pm. Anyone on
the planet Earth will be allowed the title "Mayor of Dorset", the only
requirement is a $1.00 entry fee with your name, address and phone number.
In the past we have had a 4½ year old boy from Chicago become
mayor, other candidates have included a local rooster who unfortunately met his
demise before the drawing could 
be held and others who were not aware a friend
had entered them in the "race". Some winners have even included
the title on their resumes for their careers. Remember! only your non
entry can prevent you from becoming the mayor of our fine town. Entries

Activities
for the whole family are included in the
event. We have face painting, dunking booth, many children's games which
include putting greens and minnow races. Live music throughout the town
with different acts performing all during the festivities. Country
western, community bands, rock n' roll and blue grass. The craft shop,
antique store, gift shop, book store, Old Tyme photos and pottery shop offer a
great selection of shopping plus they have activities in each of their
stores. The local church has a pie social, corn feed and games. Clowns,
balloons and 
story telling offer many afternoon activities. The local
Sheriffs Posse provide us with a unique security feature.
Parking is available in town and nearby with free bus transportation to and from the event.
